After a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease, my mother-in-law, Linda, is now at peace. I was so grateful for the time she spent in our home last spring. And Natty, one of our orange tabbies, was grateful, too! As you can see at the beginning of this video... she was definitely soaking up all the love and pets Linda had for her.
My husband and I took in Linda's two beloved cats on Thanksgiving, 2023, and have reaped the benefits of their amazingly unconditional love ever since. To know that the very same love and joy my in-laws received from these two giant felines is now the very same love and joy we now get to receive, warms my heart. And Trouble and Pokey have definitely come full circle, since we first brought them to Rick's parents when they were still in their mama-kitty's womb! They seemed to give my in-laws new purpose in life and it was so great watching my father-in-law (someone who supposedly didn't even care for cats) call out to Trouble from the floor, "Trouble, Daddy's cold..." It was the cutest thing to see Trouble then walk right over and plop down by his side. He and Charlie were best buds; even at his sickest, this cat was by his side. And Pokey's favorite place seemed to forever be in Linda's lap, if not by her side. Even in the later stages of Dementia, Linda ALWAYS asked about her cats... she missed them terribly. Don't worry, Linda... they are safe and sound and so, SO loved by us both! Pokey now jumps up on that very stool for me, patiently awaiting his daily brushing. And Trouble has stolen my heart with his sweet and gentle ways. I'm so in love.
We love you and miss you. Until we meet again, dearest Linda... rest in peace.
